Much of the Barbados is surrounded by coral reefs and the climate is very tropical and moderate. Between June and November the island has more of a wet season and the drier time of year is between December and May. It is not unusual for 40-90 inches of rain to fall yearly. This island is fairly protected from hurricanes and bad tropical storms due to its location in the Atlantic. The last time a major hurricane hit the island was in 1955.

Barbados has lots of hotels, timeshares and private villas. Tourist and surfers will enjoy their day in Barbados with its beautiful Caribbean Sea with white beaches making the south and west coast areas very popular. Lovely wildlife reserves, cave exploring expeditions, festivals, and many shopping areas can be found in this small and beautiful island. Tourism is the main economic income. African origin people constitute 90 percent of Barbados’ population.

The Crop over festival is the main celebration, which is similar to that of a carnival. Competitions for music and other special events like crowning of king and queen are the main events of this festival. The male and female who harvested the most sugarcane is crowned as the king and queen during the festival.

Due to its romantic nature of sandy beaches, blue waters, tropical sunsets and sunny days, Barbados has become the honeymoon destination for many couples. The early evenings provide a refreshing cool walk along its vegetated coastline.

The Barbados Island offers excellent yacht journeys and wind surfing experiences and for people who love water this could make a memorable holiday. Couples can also go for a swim with the sea turtles here and also go for sightseeing around the plantations and sugar mills located here. Thousands of beautiful orchids are grown in a vast garden.
