After 20 years there will be so much of information that humans will forget managing their own life in order to manage the information around them. Sure. So we learn about classification standards, information legislation and regulation and the principles of information organisation by osmosis? Just maybe there is a professional discipline that helps us to critically evaluate digital information and understand how to organise knowledge and manage information better! Check out the curricula of some of the iSchools and you will see there is a lot more to good information management than common sense.

Information management — the concept that generally accepted by all — is actually a common sense. There is no need to study a degree specializing in information management. (Just my personal opinion)
