How To Do Search Engine Optimization

Getting your site to rank highly in Search engines is considered a necessary part of creating your online presence these days. Whilst it is possible to pay consultants to do this work for you, it is estimated around 75 percent of organisations simply do their own SEO work. The advantage being that it is a whole lot cheaper and more convenient, especially if you are running a small business. So how do you make your site achieve its optimum ranking in search engines?

There is no one set formula that will get your site to a high rank in search engines, but there are definitely common factors that you need to consider.

Firstly and perhaps most simply, include keywords. Think of what product you are selling and what likely searches a potential buyer might do to find your site. Next look at the site and see if you have used any of these phrases. If you have quality content on your page it should be a snap to see where you can include the keywords that describe your product.

This takes us to the next point, page content optimization. As with the previous point, you want your keywords to appear regularly in your website, but you want this to be in a natural way. Be careful when you incorporate key words, so called key word stuffing may draw search engines to look at your site but you also want your buyer to be drawn in by the site as well! Write your content and include the key words were they most naturally fit.

Next look at title optimization, do the titles and names of the pages include key words in a natural way. This also applies to domain names, and if it is possible to incorporate key words here, then it can be valuable to do so. Also consider if the keywords are used to navigate the site and on the navigation tool on your website. It also pays to include a site map, which if you have successfully worked keywords into page titles, should be the one page on your site that is stuffed full of key words!

Once you have looked at optimizing your content and titles it pays to look at the links within your website. When search engine tools crawl websites rating and evaluating pages, these internal links are integral to the way in which your site is evaluated. Incorporating links via key words to other parts of your website can be as important as getting links from external sites into your website. Whilst click here links can be good for sales, it is also worthwhile including links via words in the text to different parts of your website, as these links guide the search engine tool through your pages.

Finally source high quality links from other sites, if you can get traffic in from another higher ranked site this can help you to optimize your search engine results more quickly. The more quality links there are to your site, the faster the search engine is likely to find it and the faster you will be able to optimize your search engine results.

Ultimately, successful search engine optimization is not an exact science for the web site creator. Whilst the development of search engines tools is based on the use of algorithms, these are generally a closely guarded secret. Keeping up to date with forums about SEO and keeping your website content up to date and keyword enhanced will give you the best chance to succeed in your search engine optimization.

The Power of PPC Search Engine Internet Marketing

A significant number of high quality website traffic can be a direct result of utilizing a PPC search engine internet marketing campaign. PPC stands for “pay per click” and is a form of advertising that many people utilize in their online marketing and promotional needs. Quite possibly the greatest advantage of using PPC search engine Internet marketing is that you are only required to pay for visitors that actually click through to your website and not for people who simply look at your ad.

Here’s why it’s so powerful.

You are charged a set fee for ad exposure with most traditional methods of advertising. The people that view your ad may never even acting on your ad either. As a result, you may not make any money from your ad campaign. However, you still have to pay that fee, regardless of whether anyone responds to your ad or not. With pay per click marketing however, you increase the changes of generating a profitable campaign because you are only paying for people that actually respond to your ad by clicking on it. This is why you have great opportunity for drastically increased sales since your traffic will be very high quality and targeted.

The most effective form of pay per click marketing is through pay per click search engine marketing. Different web sites are shown in the search engine results every time a user searches for a new phrase. Along with the search results, several “sponsored results” will appear as well, usually on the right side of the screen. These sponsored results are examples of pay per click advertising. If the user clicks on one of the ads, the advertiser is charged a set fee. The fee greatly varies depending on the budget that advertisers set for their chosen keyword or phrase.

Some keywords cost very little to receive traffic (10 cents a click or less). Other keywords can cost an arm and a leg so to speak. There are keywords that go for as high as $25 a click. The price you pay for keywords is completely dependent upon what other advertisers are willing to pay for a keyword at a given point of time. Therefore, when considering any pay per click program, you want to consider what the average cost per click are for the top placements for your keywords and phrases.

In addition to search engine pay per click, there are also pay per click banners and pay per click web page placements. Similar to PPC Search engine marketing, advertisers are only required to pay for prospects who actually click on their ad. These types of PPC results are not as high quality and targeted as using pay per click programs through search engines. A prospect is in a different state of mind when he or she types in a search word or phrase and clicks on an ad, versus visiting a web site and clicking on an ad or banner. All can work as long as you can make more money than you spend on the ad. Just understand that all pay per click marketing is not the same.

How To Give Search Engines What They Want

Do you ever ask this question? What do search engines want?

Here is why it is important to know what Google wants. First of all make friends with search engines and never ever try to cheat them.

The answer to get better rankings is simple give search engines what they want. Now I mentioned Google, because most of the time it is better to focus on get rankings in Google.

If you give search engines what they want, they reward you. They usually want to give their customers, who are the people using the search engines, the most accurate results and please them in every way.

It means you need to create a decent website as well. See what your customers want exactly and give them that on your website. If they want to learn create some articles, not just sell them a bunch of affiliate products.

You make more money, by pleasing your visitors and at the same time you are pleasing Search engines. They love it because thanks to your amazing website they can provide their customers with great search engine results. That is how they reward you of course, by improve your rankings.

That is just one factor to improve search engine rankings. However I did not say, do that only and you get top rankings.

The saying, content is king on the Internet has a lot to do with this too. Most often search engines want content, because most people are looking for content. If the majority of people used the Internet to find videos, then probably the saying would be, videos are king on the Internet, and probably search engines would love websites with videos not content.

That is the reason why adding content is important. It does not mean you flood your site and homepage with content. You can add content by creating a blog, a section for articles, a forum, hire ghostwriters from freelancing websites, swap articles with other webmasters, hire someone to write articles on your blog and many other methods.

We internet marketers certainly do not create content because we love to write. We prefer playing tennis, golf or watching TV, but we do it to please our visitors and the search engines.

Many webmasters heard the so called duplicate content theory. Basically this created panic. The only people who remained getting results and improving their business, are those that have experience and ignored this theory. Simple because there is a new theory all the time, and in most cases it is just theory, but on forums they spread like wildfire, and new webmasters are the first to make sure they avoid this new epidemic.

You just have to research and discuss the theory with honest webmasters who have lots of experience and contacts, who can easily tell you if it is a myth, or if maybe the theory is genuine

Test results show that even if there is an exact same article like yours on a thousand different websites, your site, page or anything else will not get banned. Your rankings will not drop. If you want to place an article from another website on to yours, it is a good idea however to give credit to that website, by placing a link to it.

So remember to give search engines what they want, become their friends and see what they are up to so they reward you with better search engine rankings.

Title Tags: The Forgotten Secret To Search Engine Success

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who isn’t looking for a quick fix to place their website atop the search engine rankings. In fact, many people are spending big bucks just for a shot at securing prime placements on sites such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN and AOL.

But while most of that financial focus is concentrated on creating keyword-rich content and building incoming links, one forgotten element of a search engine-friendly website often receives little attention: title tags.

So what are title tags? They are the descriptive text that displays at the top of your browser on every website you visit.

Not only are title tags important for telling visitors what’s on each page of your website, they’re essential to high search engine placement. A simple adjustment to your title tags will often result in a rise in your rankings.

Why?

All major search engines, including Google, examine title tags because they offer Information about your web page. In a way, your title tags – because of their position at the top of each page – serve as an introduction to your website. If the description on your title tags doesn’t match the content on your web page, you run the risk of receiving a low ranking … or, worse yet, no ranking at all.

However, when you incorporate keyword phrases that match your web page content and correspond with the terms your prospects search, you’ll take a significant step closer to your desired position in the search engines.

To test this concept, I encourage you do a Google search. Type in any term or key phrase you want. Then, once the search is complete, open whatever website is in the #1 position (not one of the Sponsored Links). Once it’s displayed, take a look at the browser bar at the top of the page. Do you see your keywords?

When creating the content for my new website at www.writewaysolutions.com, I focused on the key phrase “Phoenix copywriting.” As a result, that is one of the terms I used on my home page title tag. Today, if you Search Google for “Phoenix copywriting,” you’ll see my website in the #1 position. And on Yahoo! it’s #2.

Frequently, many companies only display their names on the home page title tags. The problem is that, unless you’re a well-known brand, your prospects aren’t likely to search by your company name. Instead, they will use terms that describe the product or service they need.

To choose the most effective key terms or phrases for your title tags, begin by selecting words relating to what’s described on your page. The trick is determining the phrases your prospects are searching, while avoiding broad terms with a lot of competition. You can use a free service such as Digital Point’s Keyword Suggestion Tool at http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ to help select your keywords

One additional tip is to include your geographic area as part of your title tag phrases. By adding your city and/or state, you’ll narrow down the number of websites competing for your desired search engine placement.

By now, I’m sure you’re wondering what’s in your website’s title tags. So go ahead, take a look and start incorporating these suggestions. In no time at all, you could soon see your website soaring to the top of the search engine rankings.
