Counseling psychologist focuses more on areas including addiction counseling or marital counseling in which the concerns are more related to their behavior. This is in contrary to being a diagnosed mental disease.

Aside from the education and treatment they provide, there is also another significant difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist. It is their potential earnings that separate them. Since psychiatrist is medically trained, they are expected earn higher compared to the earnings of a psychologist.

A lot of people have considered taking career path of being a psychiatrist because of the high demand and the big salary. This does not necessarily mean though that the salary of psychologist is low. It’s just that a psychiatrist will generally earn more.
