Do you wish to find out information about the officers and directors of an Ontario company? Would you like to find out who the President is and where the company’s head office is located?

The name of the document the Ontario government will give you is called an Ontario Corporate Profile Report. You can also order the same report under the name of corporate Search or a company search.

Be sure not to mistake this report to be with respect to a sole proprietorship or a partnership registered in Ontario. In order to obtained Information about those types of businesses you must do what is called an Ontario Business Names Search.

The Corporate Profile Report will tell you the address of the registered office of an Ontario company, the names and addresses for service of all directors, the names, titles and address for service of all officers, and all filings done on behalf of the company such as articles of amendment, notices of change of addresses or directors.

A corporate search is a provincial service and each province and territory has is own corporate search for the companies registered in that province or territory.

The owners of an Ontario company are considered to be private information and are not recorded on the public record. Lots of time where there is only one director and officer listed on the Corporate Profile report, that person is also the owners. If a company has many directors and officers listed on the Corporate Profile Report this would probably not be the case.

The Corporate Profile Report has a box on it that says whether or not the Ontario company has any business names registered against it however those names will not be listed. A Business Names Report will need to be ordered if there is a yes recorded on the Corporate Profile Report in order for you to determine what those business names are.

If the company has had other names in the past you will be able to find out all of those names on the Ontario Corporate Profile Report.

These searches are called corporate searches, company searches, corporate profile reports. Each province or territory has its own name. Many different searches appear to be similar in name so it is a good idea to be sure of what you want to order.
